a wonderful weekend!

People always ask me if Abby’s hair is naturally curly and my response…”it’s naturally CRAZY!” Don’t get me wrong I absolutely adore her curly locks, but sometimes it can be hard to tame. I found this stuff called Biosilk to put in her hair…I love it! It’s a little expensive – but it makes her curls so soft and managable. We haven’t put big rollers in her hair since Lindsey’s wedding…so we decided to put them in today for church. Abby loved it…she ran around the house saying “look at my silly hair!” Being the “little mommy” she is…she took all the little yellow rollers and carried them around like they were her babies…too cute!

Saturday night I went to the Women’s Broadcast with my sisters and mom. Felt so good to listen to the wonderful talks, be inspired, feel motivated to be better, feel the spirit and be with those you love. After, we went to Deseret Book (I know my new fav hangout) to visit the Lion House Bakery…I got a raspberry glaze cheescake…HEAVEN! We stayed for an hour and 45 minutes talking, crying and laughing…I think we would have stayed all night if we could!

We also cleaned out our storage room in the basement this weekend…yahoo! It was a big job we’ve been putting off for awhile. If any of you know me…you know how I love to organize things. Andy thinks I have some sort of disease. I keep running down stairs and opening the door to the storage room to make sure it’s real! I’ve seen Andy sneak a few peeks too 🙂

Had a wonderful weekend…and hope you all did too!

p.s. Sorry, this has gotten to be a  long post…but did you notice my pics are clearer! I’ve been so frustrated with my camera and maybe whinning a bit about it to Andy. So, he took a look at it…cleaned all of Abby’s little finger marks of my lense and what do you know…clear pictures!

Abby’s Chart

Abby has started to become a wee bit difficult when it comes to getting her hair done, brushing her teeth, making her bed, etc. So…yesterday I decided to make her a little chart and surprisingly it is working very well! When she has completed a task such as cleaning up her room before bed (and does it happily), she gets to put a sticker on the chart. She LOVES this! I found these great plastic star stickers at Deseret Book that are removable and reusable…they are perfect for this. While at Deseret Book we also visited their Lion House Bakery…oh my…fresh rolls and raspberry butter! Found out they also have a story time on Thursday mornings…we will be going back soon!  Abby was so proud to show her Dad all her stars when he got home from work…hopefully it keeps working 🙂

We had a great time in Vegas and St. George! Abby totally enjoyed going on the “LONG CAR TRIP!” Abby loved watching movies in the car, seeing the huge fish tank at Ceasars Palace, the fountains at the Bellagio, playing with cousins, eating gelato, riding a merry-go-round, shopping for shoes and having Dad around a lot! It was so fun to see Tyler, Janeen, Anniston and Decker…the kids played their little hearts out. Poor Anniston never got Abby to wear one of her princess dresses…we’ll work on that for next time! It was so nice to to just hang out as a family together…and eat Janeen’s amazing sugar cookies (I think Andy ate a whole dozen in a 24 hour period)! No joke…I’m sure we gained a few pounds!

When we got to St. George Abby was thrilled to see Papa and Grandma! We had Pizza Factory for dinner (my favorite…they have the best raspberry lemonade) and then went swimming. Abby loved swimming with her cousins. She did really well in the water and wanted to swim by herself most of the time (she would just bob around in her life jacket).  Ever heard the saying “It’s all fun and games until someone gets hurt?” Well, Andy was dunking everyone in sight, the girls were all screaming and then…while he was swimming he took a stroke and hit Abby right in the eye. Her little eye swelled up and she was so heartbroken that her Daddy would “BONK” her. Andy felt sooooo bad! Saturday we did a lot of shopping because it was raining…no comlaints here. Kara got the deal of the day…99 cent jeans for Cooper at the Children’s Place! I felt bad for the boys because they had planned to mt. bike, but with the weather the couldn’t…Andy was bummed!

All in all we had a fun little trip. We came home to rainy fall weather…with snow in the mountains! I can’t believe how quickly summer changes to fall. It feels great to be home though 🙂

Viva Las Vegas/St. George

I spent the whole day cleaning and doing laundry (8 loads) yesterday…we are headed out on a road trip this morning…yeah! I can’t stand going on a trip and then coming back to a messy house…yuck not my thing…must be clean!Abby is thrilled and has been talking about going on this “long trip” for awhile. We hope she enjoys it. We are going to Las Vegas to visit my brother and his sweet little fam – and see their cute new house. Abby is way excited to see her cousins Anniston and Decker. After Vegas we are headed to wonderful St. George to meet up with Andy’s family. We’ve rented a couple condos, the weather should be HOT (just how I like it), mt. biking, food, SHOPPING, plenty of cousins to play with and there are like 6 pools for all the kiddos to swim in…Abby will be in heaven! Can’t wait to just hang out and RELAX!

Be back soon 🙂

So, after I ran my 1/2 marathon in June, Andy decided he wanted to train and do a race too. Andy has done lots of mt. bike races, but he wanted to do something new. I suggested we run a 1/2 marathon together, but he wasn’t fond of that idea. I’m not sure if he didn’t want to run with me or run the distance (I’m sure it was the later reason)?!?! Our 2nd counselor in our Bishopric started talking to him about doing a triathlon with him. Andy thought it sounded like a great challenge…and a challenge it was!  Andy ran track in high school and is an avid mt. biker, but not a swimmer or road biker. So, this was all new for him! Well, his race was on Saturday and he did amazing. I knew if he could make it thru the swim he would be fine. Surprisingly, the swim ended up being his best event (17:49). Abby, Uncle Jason (thanks for coming) and I had a great time cheering him on. At every transition poor Abby got so upset because daddy wouldn’t come see her. His final time was 1:39:28…great job Andy…we are so happy for you!

Retired From Teaching

I have been teaching a card class at a local scrapbook store for the past 6 1/2 years…and tonight was my last night of teaching. I have absolutely LOVED teaching my little card class and have met some dear friends thru this experience. However, it has just gotten to be too much for our little family and of course my family comes first…so I have retired! I will miss seeing my friends on a monthly basis, but hope to keep in touch with them. These are the cards we made this month. Hope you all have a good Friday!

Playing Hide & Seek

So, Abby has mastered the game of hide & seek or as she calls it…”Come find me MOM!”  She is always hiding and thinks it’s fun for mom/dad to come find her. I guess I only have myself to blame for this. One of our favorite things to do is hide from Andy on Sunday morings when we hear him come home from his meetings. She loves to hide and is suprisingly really quite while dad searches for us. She has gotten really good at this! At first it was just under a blanket, then under a bed, or in her closet. This morning I heard her call me to come find her from downstairs. I ran downstairs and seriously couldn’t find her! Then I noticed her cute little fingers and toes sticking out of the Jiggity-Jiggy (this is what Abby calls her rocking horse like toy from IKEA)!

First Day of DANCE!

Abby started DANCE today! Her class starts at 9am…which is a little early for her (she usually wakes up between 8:30 and 9:00). So I had to wake her up…but she was so thrilled to finally be able to wear her dance clothes and shoes.  Her class lasts one hour…half is ballet and the other half tap. She looked so CUTE! I was a bit nervous that when we got to dance she wouldn’t want to stay or cry, but she did great! She did ask me a couple times if I wanted to stay and dance too, but that was it! So proud of her…she is just growing up to be the SWEETEST girl…I love her to pieces!
