{happy HALLOWEEN eve}

Had to share a few pictures of Abby and Boston this morning. We’ve had a fun day anticipating Halloween tomorrow. Abby had a cute little Halloween party and program at preschool today. I decided at the last minute to have her be a princess for preschool (her costume for Halloween night would have been to hot to wear). She was absolutely thrilled to be a princess. She made sure I addressed her as “princess abby” all morning. She loved putting on mascara and having her hair done.

Boston was not so happy to take pictures however. All he wants to do is look out this window…I think he may be planning his escape once he really starts walking…hahaha! Last Sunday he started taking a few steps here and there. I’m sure he’ll be on the move very soon!

Boston loves to go for walks. He is so fascinated with the cars that drive by. So sweet!

Abby’s cute little preschool class.

 Then this afternoon we decided to make these:

 I got this fun and easy recipe from my cute college roomate, Melissa. She always has fabulous ideas! This donut recipe is perfect for little kiddos to help with. All you need is refridgerator rolls, vegetable oil, a lid and some good old cinnamon & sugar. Simply press holes into the middle of your rolls will a lid (keep the middles for donut holes), fry them up (cook for about 30 seconds on each side), dry off on a paper towel and dust with cinnamon & sugar! That’s it…super simple and yummy. This is for sure going to become a fall family tradition for us 🙂

happy birthday abby!

my sweet little abby is FOUR today! so thankful for her and the blessing she is to me. i’m feeling a bit emotional thinking back on the FOUR years of her life. abby is such a sweet, kind, silly, imaginative, smart, emotional, spunky little girl! what a fun day to celebrate her and be so thankful to have her in our family! thought i’d share FOUR of my new favorite photos of her 🙂

p.s. we always tie a bouquet of balloons to our banister for birthdays at our house. abby was in heaven when she woke up to find ballons. after finishing her breakfast she turned to me and said “hey mom… being 4 is so fun! and thank you, thank you for my 4 balloons…i love them SO much!” she was sure to kiss each one good-bye on her way out to preschool this morning too…so cute!

October officially starts off some fun family celebrations for us mixed in with all the holidays!  Abby’s birthday is near the end of October, a week later is Halloween, then a week after that is our annivesary (it’s our 10th), then a few days later is Boston’s 1st birthday, then Thanksgiving and Christmas next…ahhh! It is all super fun, but keeps me super busy. I love planning parties and find myself not being able to sleep at night because I am dreaming up party plans. I finally decided on Abby’s party plans, made her invitations and got them out today…what a good feeling! After talking to a few friends about birthday parties, I decided what our families birthday traditions will be. We will have friend parties on the even birthdays and family parties on the odd years and rotate between that. I thought it was a good idea, especially with both my kids birthdays only a couple weeks apart. This way we will only have one friend party a year, because Abby and Boston are 3 years apart. Now, that I have Abby’s party well on it’s way – onto Bostons! I’m super excited and have a few fun ideas that I’m sure will be swirling around my head at 2 in the morning 🙂

{our visit to the patch}

one of my most favorite things to do in the fall is go to the pumpkin patch. we picked a cold and windy night to visit the patch, but the kids still loved it! abby ran around the whole time looking for the best pumpkin and boston enjoyed riding in the wheelbarrow and patting the pumpkins. abby had a blast going through the hay maze. she somehow knew her way right thru the thing like it was no big deal! i love little family traditions like this that make fall such a  wonderful time of year 🙂

Boston’s 11 months…

…and busier than ever!

He loves playing & giggling with his sister…

Looking out the window…

Standing up…

And letting go…

Making sure every drawer in the kitchen is empty…

Gets super sad if someone takes something from him…

He likes going places in the car…

Did I mention he likes to play, play, play…

Especially with any shoe he can get his hands on…

A few other fun things he can do are wave bye-bye, give fives and kisses.

Boston is such a joy! He keeps us busy and laughing.

We love our little man to pieces 🙂

a fun halloween treat…

While Boston was napping this morning, Abby and I made some treats to have for conference weekend and to share with our neighbors. Abby really loved making these and was so proud of herself that she was “cooking a recipe!” Try these out with your kids…it sure to be a hit. Enjoy:)

1 bag pretzels
1 pkg. M&Ms
1 pkg. Hershey “Hugs”

Place pretzels on baking stone or sheet. Place a Hug on each pretzel and bake at 200 degrees for about 8 minutes (just watch for the Hugs to melt). Remove from oven and promptly place a couple of M&Ms on each pretzel, pressing into the melted chocolate. Allow to cool before serving. At room temperature, this takes SEVERAL hours or you can put them in the refrigerator to speed up the process.
